Help centre / Getting connected

Switch your fibre to RileyNet

Use this guide before disconnecting anything. Your connection date and fibre-box port depend on the order for your address.

Start with your address

Send your street number, unit, town and postcode through the free address check. Tell us whether another provider is active and whether you can see a fibre box inside. Riley will check the address and send the available plan, full costs and service terms in writing.

If you already have a fibre box

Look for a powered box fixed to an inside wall, often near the current router or in a wiring cupboard. This is the optical network terminal (ONT). Leave the thin fibre lead and any cable carrying an existing service in place.

Ask Riley which ONT port your order uses and when to connect. Having an ONT does not by itself confirm that a RileyNet service is active.

If the property needs an installation

Tell Riley there is no ONT, or that you cannot find one. We’ll check whether an installation is possible. If work is needed, follow the local fibre company’s instructions for property access, permissions, appointments and equipment placement. Check with the property owner before agreeing to work if you rent.

At the appointment, point out where power is available and where you use Wi-Fi. Ask about the cable route and any extra cost before agreeing to the work.

Plan the changeover

Check your current provider’s notice period, router-return instructions and any bundle discounts. If a landline or monitored alarm relies on the connection, check the changeover with its provider first.

Keep your current service until the transfer arrangements are confirmed. On the agreed date, follow the router guide and test several devices. Confirm with the old provider what still needs cancelling or returning.
