Improve Wi-Fi in a weak room

Use this when the connection is usable near the router but calls, video or browsing break up further away.

Compare the same device in two places

Test one device beside the router, then take it into the affected room. Use the same application or speed-test server both times. Note whether closing a door or walking around a corner changes the result. Good performance near the router points to coverage inside the home.

Try a new router position

Place the router out in the open, elevated from the floor and clear of large metal objects. A shelf outside a metal wiring cabinet is often a better starting point than inside it. Use a longer Ethernet lead between the ONT and router if necessary. Leave the fixed fibre box where it is.

If moving it is not enough

Test a wired connection for a desk, TV or console that stays in one place. If you are considering mesh, try a node between the router and the weak room, where it can still receive a good signal. Ask Riley about options before buying extra equipment. BYO owners should check compatibility with the manufacturer.
